Welcome to Southampton City Scout District Explorer Scout Section
This is the fourth section and is for young people between the ages of fourteen and eighteen.
Explorer Scouts have a challenging and motivating programme. Explorer Scout activities are all about being outdoors. Not just when they're camping, but on the weekly Unit nights too. They do similar activities to the Scouts, but at a higher level. They go hiking, abseiling, camp cooking, canoeing, caving, climbing, cycling, expeditions, first aid, motor sports, mountain activities, mountain biking, orienteering, pioneering, sailing and survival skills. There are twenty-eight badges that the Explorer Scouts can earn. The top awards are Chief Scout's Platinum and Diamond Awards, the Duke of Edinburgh's Awards and the Explorer Belt.
If a Scout has gained their Gold Chief Scout Award, they can wear the badge on their uniform until they gain the Platinum Chief Scout Award. The Scout can also wear their Participation and Moving On awards.

Explorer Scouts Uniform - Explorers wear a beige smart shirt, navy blue activity trousers and the appropriate scarf. Sea Explorers wear a light blue smart shirt, smart black trousers, the appropriate scarf and Sea Scout cap. City Explorers also have their own polo shirt.
